Ford Motors, the American Carmaker has upped the prices by $3,615 for 2015-F-150 pickup trucks. It states that these trucks would have a body made up of aluminum, owing to which the vehicle will become light, but would lead to an increase in the cost. Even the number of models is being reduced by the company from 11 to 5.
It is expected that the new models would be reaching the dealers, this fall. The cheapest of F-150 is XL, which has a 3.5 liter V-6 engine powering it, which produces 238 horsepower. The price of this would be $26,220 and is inclusive of shipping charge of $1,195. In comparison to the 2014 model, an increase of $395 would be seen in this model.
There would be a $340 increase in the price of XLT model and can be availed at $31,890. The Lariat was priced at $38,835 in 2014 but in 2015, the price of the same would be $39,880. Platinum Model, the highest in the lot has a price tag of $52,155, which was available at $49,100 in the year 2014.
The highest increase in the price would be that of the King Ranch model, which was priced at $46,075 in 2014 and is now priced at $49,690. Overall, there has been a 1-8 percent increase in the price of F-150 pickup trucks, depending on models. Ford says that the dealers can now order the 2015-F-150 models.
With the increase in prices, new features will also be brought about. They will have 2 information screens. They would have 2 additional speakers and have telescoping steering wheel.
Adam Jonas, an analyst with Morgan Stanley says that this changeover to aluminum is the most complicated and largest launch in the company’s history. The process is definitely going to be a painful one.
