Although officials assure the people that an Ebola outbreak is not going to happen, more and more American citizens are Ebola suspects and are being monitored for any signs of the deadly virus. The American citizens are from Connecticut and Seattle and have recently returned from West Africa. By now, none of the Ebola suspects showed any signs that they have contracted the virus, but it could take as many as 10 days for the symptoms to appear in an infected person.
Seattle Time reported that a nurse from Seattle is being monitored and has restricted her movements voluntarily in order to stop spreading the disease and infect others around her. It was made public that the nurse had returned from Africa where she helped treat patients infected with the Ebola virus.
In Connecticut, officials have placed into quarantine six family members who recently returned from a trip in one of the Ebola-infected Africa countries. The family of six is staying with friends and has been put in quarantine as a precaution. The Ebola suspects will remain under observance for at least 21 days and see if they will show any symptoms of the deadly virus. The quarantine period will be supervised by the health officials and the Police Department from West Haven, Connecticut.
The mayor of West Haven said that the Ebola suspects are being monitored in order to comply with the order released on October 7 when Connecticut was declared as being under a state of public health emergency.
William Gerrish from the Public Health Department of Connecticut has said that they have three Yale students as possible Ebola suspects and are now being monitored and told to not leave their homes until further notice.
Health official declared that all the Ebola suspects are being quarantined voluntarily and none of them have objected so far.
There is a new American health policy under which all who travel into the U.S from Ebola-affected African countries must be monitored for three weeks. This is the latest policy meant to keep the deadly Ebola virus from spreading everywhere in the United States.
