The largest online retailer in the world, Amazon has announced its latest service that will compete will other cloud storage providers like Dropbox or Google.
Amazon has decided to provide unlimited cloud storage use to its Cloud Drive customers.
The announcement was made Thursday, March 26 when Amazon about its plan to bring two new services that will provide secure cloud storage for its customers’ existing content.
Moreover, the new services will allow the Amazon users to upload automatically an unlimited amount of music, photos, videos, movies and any other type of files to their personal cloud.
Amazon customers who have a vast collection of photos can choose a special plan called the Unlimited Photos Plan, which costs $11.99 per year, or if the users choose to play the monthly fee, they will need to pay almost $1 per month.
The Unlimited Photos Plan also gives the user unlimited photo storage within the Cloud Drive and comes with an extra 5GB of space for files like videos and documents.
Amazon announced that those who need an even larger storage space they can get the Unlimited Everything Plan, which provides storage of both new and existing files, photos, music and videos. According to Amazon, this is their most complete plan and the cost of it is $59.99 per year.
Josh Petersen, director of Amazon Cloud Drive, talked about his company’s latest cloud storage plans saying that the majority of people have many precious life events like birthdays, holidays vacations and even mundane moment that they want to remember, so they store them on various devices. Petersen said that most of these people don’t know the amount of GB of storage they would need to store all their precious memories.
But with Amazon’s new plans, Petersen explained, these people won’t need to worry about things like storage space because they will get an affordable, safe solution to store up an unlimited amount of videos, photos, music, movies and files in one place that is extremely convenient.
Amazon announced that both of its latest plans can be tested before purchase with the free three-month trial periods. After the trial period ends, the users will have to make the payment should they want to stick with the plans.
Existing Amazon Prime customers and those who own a Kindle Fire already have access to an unlimited photo storage, but they can upgrade to the new plans if they want to.
