This week American household name Target launched one of its most successful summer collections of the last few years. The “Lilly Pulitzer x Target” line hit the stores only to be sold out in minutes. It seems that lavish flower prints in bright eye-popping colors are the “it” look this summer and everyone wanted to be in fashion!
First off, Target stores sold every single item from the Pulitzer line within minutes. People had been waiting outside stores all throughout the night, just to be sure they get their hands on a Palm Beach resort inspired item. The opening of the online store was met with the same out of this world enthusiasm and again, it took minutes until it became impossible to order anything, as it had been ordered dry.
This was not the end of it though, but merely the moment when the Lilly frenzy started to take massive proportions! Some of the people who managed to get “Lilly Pulitzer x Target” items have started reselling them on eBay and making a sizeable profit.
The famous Shift dress was sold by Target for around 200$ and can be found eBay today starting from 450 $. And if you plan on buying one, you might as well take a deep breath and place a generous bid, because you will have a lot of other Lilly fans to outbid.
Not even Liza Pulitzer, Lilly’s daughter, could acquire any the Target goods! She was eying some vibrantly colored beach chairs, but the Target shoppers beat her to the punch. And if the last name Pulitzer can’t get you closer to a Palm Beach item, then it really does mean we’re dealing with a shopping phenomenon!
“She would have loved the fact that everybody wanted to get something, a piece of Lilly,”, said Liza Pulitzer with a big smile on her face.
Women fell in love with Lilly Pulitzer’s dresses back in 1959, when the irresistible vibrant colors of their patterns took their hearts and never let go. Lilly’s clothing became symbolic for the luxurious Palm Beach resorts. The predominant colors are exuberant pink and lush green, put together in flowery and leafy patterns, reminding us of the glorious pictures from the 60’s beach scene. “Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink.”, Lilly Pulitzer said and so it was.
