A new malware which can target Apple Inc desktop and mobile devices has been found. This malware known by the name “WireLuker” is able to install third party applications on iOS devices. To make things worse for the users, this malware can spread from infected Macs to iPhone through USB connector cables.
Palo Alto Networks, the company which has found this malware also hinted that the attackers were probably Chinese. They said this on the assumption that as the malware had come from Chinese third party app store, indications pointed out that the attackers were Chinese.
This malware which initially spread through infected apps uploaded on the app store, spread to the Mac computers as users downloaded the same. The gravity of the problem can be gauged from the fact that over 400 such infected apps have been downloaded around 350,000 times so far.
However, analysts at Palo Alto Networks are still guessing the reasons which made attackers commit this offense. They have not taken any sensitive information from users profile apart from messaging ID and contacts from address books of the users.
However, strangely Apple has not come out with any official statement on this embargo until date. The malware, once it gets on to an iPhone can infect the existing apps on the device. This is much similar to any traditional virus which affects the computer system and can steal off important information from the client’s database. Apple will be coming out with a solution soon though the software giant has preferred to remain mute so far.
