Diet Pepsi Aims To Beat Diet Coke by Getting Rid Of Aspartame

Diet-Pepsi-Aspartame-Free

After continuous decrease in Diet Pepsi sales, the Pepsi Company is setting its sights on making a comeback in the diet niche. And it found the perfect way to beat its longtime competitor, Diet Coke. They will stop using aspartame in their product and replace it with sucralose and ace-k.

Aspartame-free Diet Pepsi has a lot of chances to be very successful, since the main reason why people are renouncing diet drinks is the aspartame in them. This came as a result of the tremendously bad publicity that this sweetener has received from science in the last decade.

Aspartame has been linked to cancer in a massive amount of studies, and the subject has been taken up in the health sector media so many times, that is has gotten the reputation of being absolutely vicious. Recently, a test has been carried out on Twitter that showed that the word “Aspartame” got a rating of only 22, compared “Christmas” that got 88 and “Love” that got 96.

So, if aspartame equals cancer in the public eye, then aspartame must be disposed of and quickly! Pepsi even tested its new Sucralose/ Ace-K product and it seems that people still acknowledge it as being Diet Pepsi, but the words “slightly different mouth feel” have come up.

There is a problem though, regarding the future of the new Diet Pepsi.sucralose, otherwise known as Splenda, is fairly neutral, but unfortunately ace-K is beginning to follow in the footsteps of aspartame because it has also been linked with cancer occurrence.

And here is where Pepsi management has been put into a corner. They claim that the ingredient changes have been made entirely due to the public demand of an aspartame-free drink. However, they do not consider that aspartame is a dangerous substance, but that it does not cause cancer. Is seems that they are siding with studies that are trying to clear the name of aspartame.

It seems that Pepsi has find a way to offer an alternative to the ill-famed sweetener without actually badmouthing it. By presenting it a mere option, they get to keep products like Diet Mountain Doe, that will continue using aspartame. However intelligent this might be, they must tread lightly in the future.

The new Diet Pepsi is scheduled to be released in August. Also, all of the products in the Diet Pepsi group will have the new formula. These include Wild Cherry Diet Pepsi and Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi. Customers will be able to identify the new Diet Pepsi by the inscription “Now Aspartame-free”, that will be found on the label.

As far as artificial sweeteners go, it is the almost unanimous medical opinion that they are to be avoided, and if possible, completely. These substance are relevant for diabetes patients, who are not allowed to consume sugar. But the biggest consumers of artificially sweetened products are usually people trying to lose weight.

According to the medical point of view on the matter, the best replacement for Aspartame, Ace-K and basically all artificial sweeteners is water, still or bubbly, and flavored water, made by adding small quantities of cucumber or fruit.

Since the Coca Cola Company announced that Diet Coke, the market leader in dietary drinks, will not change its use of aspartame, Diet Pepsi finally has the chance to surpass its greatest rival.
