Authorities warned the population of Escambia County, Florida, to stay alert, as two murder suspects, a man, and a woman are still on the loose. As a result, Florida’s Panhandle sheriff’s office doubled the number of deputies scouring the area for the suspects, as the search enters its second week.
According to the local law enforcement officers, 37-year-old Mary Rice, and 44-year-old William Boyette are wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a young mother and car theft. On Monday, February 6th, the suspects allegedly shot the woman during a home invasion near Pensacola and fled the scene in the stolen victim’s car, said Chip Simmons, Escambia County Sherriff’s Office Chief.
Furthermore, the perpetrators are also primary suspects in the deaths of 39-year-old Jacqueline Jeanette Moore, and 30-year-old Alicia Greer, whose bodies were found on January 31st near Milton, at the Emerald Sands Inn. On Friday, February 3rd, the murderous couple struck again and killed Peggy Broz in Lillian, Alabama, the authorities added. Like in the young mother’s case, the killers stole the victim’s car, as well, after taking Broz’s life.
Not long ago, Mary Rice was only considered a person of interest in the murder cases. However, she had been upgraded to primary suspect, along with William Boyette, on Monday, after investigators concluded she had multiple chances to ask for help or flee.
According to the law enforcement officers, Kayla Crocker’s mother went to check up on her 28-year-old daughter after she failed to show up for work. When she entered the house, she found the young mother dead from a gunshot wound. Fortunately, her 2-year-old son was not injured in the attack, said investigators.
Furthermore, the police officers told reporters the victim’s car, a white Chevrolet Cobalt was missing. However, investigators pulled video surveillance from a nearby Shelby gas station and saw Rice and Boyette entering a Hardee’s restaurant only minutes after the attack.
Police officers said William Boyette has a history of drug trafficking and abuse and is known to be a heavy user of the drug Spice. Authorities recommend informing at least one other person of your whereabouts and traveling in groups until the investigation reaches a conclusion and the suspects are taken into custody.
