Breast Cancer Strides initiative continues throughout the United States.
The American Cancer Society continues with the Breast Cancer Strides event, this time in Myrtle Beach. The walk will take place Saturday, on November 5th and it is expected to gather many participants.
Although there is no participation fee, every person will donate minimum $25. Children under the age of twelve and survivors can participate in the walk for free. With this initiative, the American Cancer Society aims to raise awareness and funds which will be donated to breast cancer patients.
A small percentage of this money will be used to support cancer research for new treatments. Participants can register at 8 a.m., whereas the Strides event will begin at 9 a.m. when everyone will walk along the beach on a five-kilometer distance.
The walk begins and ends at the Crown Reef Resort at 2913 S. Ocean Boulevard. The Breast Cancer Strides celebration does not include just the walk but also a wide variety of recreational activities including a photo booth, Loco Gecko refreshments, a live DJ, and a mascot appearance just to name a few.
All cancer survivors who manage to complete the entire distance of the walk are going to receive a free event t-shirt, whereas every participant who donates at least $25 will get a t-shirt as well. People who want to donate or register in advance can go directly to the Breast Cancer Strides registration page.
Vacation Myrtle Beach provides a special offer to visitors who spend the weekend there, while $5 will be donated from each reservation to support the American Cancer Society research. This agency consists of 2.5 million volunteers who do their best every day to help cancer patients and raise awareness and funds across the United States.
Thanks to the American Cancer Society, many patients receive access to screenings, preventive treatment, and a wide variety of medications.
Besides the Breast Cancer Strides, volunteers organize another widely-spread event known as the Relay For Life dedicated to all cancer patients and survivors.
These events raise many funds in many local communities throughout the state, while the most important thing is that they gather people together who share their stories and inspire one another to keep up the good fight.
