Living to the real meaning of humanity, a Pennsylvania nurse agreed before an ailing mother, who was losing her battle against cancer, to take care of her eight-year-old son after her death.
45-year-old Tricia Somers discovered this year that she was suffering from severe liver cancer which was in terminal stage in March. Somers, who is a single mother, had separated from her husband and family and therefore the future of her young son was a big concern for her.
She had no idea who would take care of her young child until when a nurse at a hospital in Pennsylvania walked into her life with a ray of hope.
Nurse Tricia Seaman came as a last hope for the dying mother whose failed chemotherapy left her restricted up to the bed and she couldn’t come out to take her son, Wesley, to school.
“She came in and I felt this overwhelming feeling of comfort. “She’s going to take care of me. She’s the one,” Somers said while recalling the moment during an interview with a news channel.
Now, the young child is spending more and more time with Seaman so that he comes closer to his new family.
The dying mother asked Seaman to take care of her son after her death and the philanthropist nurse agreed.
The nurse was at first stance shocked by her patient’s request. However, she seriously discussed the matter with her husband after which the couple decided to adopt Wesley. The nurse is the mother of three daughters.
Extending her feelings for her son, a depressed Tricia said, “I feel bad that I’m doing that to him.
However, Wesley consoled his mother saying, “Mom, it’s not your fault.”
Tricia handed over her son Wesley to the Seaman family while she was going through hospital care for terminal liver cancer.
