Twitter exploded after American singer Ciara advised single women to ‘level up’ and stop acting like perpetual girlfriends if they want to find a husband. She posted a link to Pastor John Gray explaining why so many women are single nowadays.
But on Sunday morning, Twitter’s trending section showed Ciara in the top spot for a reason that celebrities would rather not. Her Instagram post urging women to change tactic in order to get married infuriated dozens of Twitter users.
Ciara posted an excerpt from Gray’s sermon about why women are no longer able to find a husband. Gray thinks that it is because they act like a “girlfriends” rather than act like wives from the moment potential husbands set there eyes on them. Pastor Gray even backed his claims with a biblical argument.
However, the pastor did not direct the sermon only two women. The room was packed with both men and women, so he likely tried to tell both sexes what they should be doing to have a healthy marriage.
Ciara, on the other hand, directed the message only to women which infuriated many of them. Single women complained that, now that Ciara is married to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, she has forgotten how competitive the dating field is for women.
Twitter user Cici Adams was among the most vocal critics of Ciara’s Instagram post, reminding the singer that she too had to go through a mess. Adams believes that pastor Gray twisted the word of Scripture when he quoted Prov. 18:22 to back his advice. Adams even accused Ciara of using her status as a married woman against single women.
Another user warned Ciara that she could always fall from grace no matter how perfect her marriage may be. So, she should not tell single women that they are not romantically successful.
However, some users backed Ciara for telling women to act like a wife to get a husband. User Kognak Shakur noted that Twitter did not explode when Cardi told women “a hoe never gets cold,” while another user accused Ciara critics of playing the victim card.
Ciara’s GROWTH has nothing to do with her denying her past ….
Y’all heffas get mad at fellow women for trying to encourage you to do BETTER because you deserve better but you’re also upset when men degrade you 🤔
Y’all Just gotta play victim because Hoe is Life 🙃🤷🏾♀️
