Samsung released an SDK today with a bunch of information for app developers and it seems like they are getting ready to offer smartwatch users a whole new type of experience. The name of the new device is rumored to be Gear 1.
Samsung was one of the first companies to jump on board the smartwatch express so much so that they created a whole collection of different smartwatches by now. However, surprisingly enough, none of them had a round display.
Apart from a whole new design, the new Samsung watch will also feature a round bezel meant to allow users a better navigation experience. This mostly means that you will be able to enjoy the apps installed on your smartwatch without having to block out the tiny display. Scrolling through your apps or zooming in on your pictures will be more readily available.
This new round bezel is the most important addition to the new device and it hopes to make a great impact on the market, but like with most radical changes, smartwatch enthusiasts will either hate it or love it.
The watch will probably be presented this September, at the IFA held, along with the Galaxy Note 5 and people are already getting excited at the prospect of seeing what the new device can do.
Unlike its android based rivals, the new smartwatch will be function on Tizen , which is Samsung`s very own operating system. This means that app designers need to move fast if they want to have their product available by the time of the launch.
The new smartwatch will most likely feature a 360 x 360 display and will have a 1.6 inch screen. The watch will also be equipped with a wide variety of sensors (heart rate monitor, pressure, gyroscope, accelerometer) and will have a 2GB data connectivity.
As most smartwatches do, the Gear 1 will also include GPS in its features and an Bluetooth device that will allow the users to carry out conversations using headphones.
By buying into a whole new design, it is clear that Samsung means business and hopes to make a better impression than it did with its square, android based, Gear live Smart Watch that was release in 2014.
Samsung also expects some that most of the hype generated by the launch of the Apple watch will have died down by the time they unveil Gear 1, thus providing them with a perfect timeframe for the launch.
