Web search giant Google has recently rolled out a new “carousel” gimmick to enhance the search tool’s mobile results page. Clients who rely on Google for their portable net searches will see this carousel gimmick is very useful. As opposed to showing a scrollable rundown of related query items for specific search, Google will now show all related quests from a sole site into a scrollable carrousel feature that will show up at the top of the page. This carousel will only show up when clients are looking for particular webpages or typing particular key words.
The new feature is only accessible on Google in English and just for U.S clients for the time being. The carousel manages the results of a search by clustering them in a group to better support users select the best results with fewer clicks and less scrolling down through different indexed lists.
This option implies less filtering through the numerous irrelevant and undesirable indexed results that appear when looking for a particular topic. For example, if users look for NPR they will now get a carousel with links to all NPRs recent articles and video clips, as indicated by search product manager Ardan Aracin a blog entry this week.
At the moment some users might not spot this new feature for some of their favorite webpages as Google’s carousel supports only new websites and videos. However, the tech company said it is going to introduce extra carousels for all webpages in the near future. ow
To show users how the new feature operates, Google proposed that clients do a quest for the academy awards/Oscars. By swiping right and left, news and features from the Academy Awards will be displayed into a spinning news feed. Clients can choose any link to read or watch the videos they are looking for. An alternate way to test the feature will be searching for Apple, or iOS gadgets. This will show a carrousel of web content, but the index will only be provided from one news webpage.
This new venture comes immediately after reports that Google got an arrangement with Twitter to make tweets more searchable on the web. Having access to twitter’s information, Google can show the latest tweets right when they are posted. The new agreement with Twitter and the carousel gimmick are certainly bring a major change in the way Google mobile users will get their search results.
