A heart-touching wedding photo posted by a North Carolina photographer on Facebook showing the groom praying for his soon-to-be wife moments before their ceremony went viral in a matter of hours.
The photo shows U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Caleb Earwood, 21, praying aloud and thanking God for his future bride and the family he was about to be married into. In the photo, bride Maggie Earwood, 22, leans up against the wall while she is trying to keep her tear from falling.
The couple wanted to honor tradition and not make eye contact before they have exchanged their wedding vows before at the altar. They did hold their hands which makes the moment even more dramatic.
Maggie said that her family hid her in a cabin so Caleb won’t see her while she was getting ready. When she was finally brought downstairs, Caleb was waiting for her on the stairwell and only stuck his hand out in order to let her hold it.
“We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn’t want to take a step without it being in God’s will,”
Caleb told a reporter who contacted him over the photo.
The marine also said that he prayed to God for his beautiful and intelligent wife and the important step they were taking in life. Maggie recalled that Caleb’s hand was shaking really bad during that moment. She said that she couldn’t restrain her eyes from crying when she realized that the man she was about to marry felt the same way about God.
The couple grew up together and they were friends since high school. Caleb first asked Maggie on a date a couple of years ago when the two became inseparable. On their wedding date, Caleb kept telling everyone that his wife is so beautiful and he is such a blessed man to have her by his side.
The wedding photographer who took the picture said that he attended more than 100 weddings, but this one was one of the most memorable. However, he almost missed the ceremony because he was recovering from a kidney surgery. But he said his effort paid off especially when seeing the joy the heartfelt moment brought to so many people.
The Earwoods wedded Saturday in Asheville, North Carolina, and headed to Dollywood, Tennessee for their honeymoon. They now plan to settle in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The groom has been in the military for three years now.
When newlyweds heard about the success of their photo they said they felt thankful that the image “blessed so many people and touched so many hearts.”
