If you’re among those who love internet speed, then this news is for you. Slow internet access is definitely annoying to almost everyone. In order to find out which state in the United States has got the best internet speed, a survey was undertaken.
The report of the research was published in Akami’s ”State of the Internet.” It was published in June. Based on the data published in the ”State of the Internet,” communications and Cloud service company Broadview Networks has created a so called heatmap.
The map shows the down south state; Virginia users are experiencing the best internet access. It is said that the average internet speed in Virginia is 13.7 megabytes’ per second.
Delaware and Massachusetts are sharing the second spot. Both recorded an average 13.1 megabytes per second internet speed. The states having speed of over 10 megabytes per second are included in High Broadband category.
The top 10 states with fastest internet speed are as follows.
Although Virginia is ranked number one, the state sharing similar name, West Virginia is ranked lowest for internet speed by Broadview Inc.
The states with lowest internet speed are mentioned in order below.
Broadview Network’s issued a press note through their blog post. They mentioned, “It’s no surprise that the Northeast has some of the fastest speeds in the nation, while the Midwest and less populated states have generally slower speeds.”
Comcast and Google has already announced their plans for 1 gigabyte-per-second service through their fiber optic upgrades. If introduced, then it would be no surprise and interesting to see in the future whether these Megabytes per second will change into Gigabytes-per-second in next version of the Broadview network’s heatmap.
