Have you ever tried hula hoop. Almost everyone has the craze of trying hula hoop at least once in their lifetime.
Hula hoop-the big plastic rings carrying noise-making colorful beads, was first known in 1950s. For some it is just a fun, but for some it is a means of earning their livelihood.
But the American Council on Exercise has discovered that hooping can also be used as a means of exercise tool. Hula hoops were first developed by the ancient Greeks as an exercising tool for the hips.
An hour of hula hoop can burn as many as 600 calories. According to the American Council on Exercise, hoopers can lose a significant amount of fats because of the unnatural motion applied to keep hula hoop moving.
“Hoop dancing is most popular among women between the age group 25 and 60,” Kelly Strycker, director of Chicago Hoop Dance, said.
Talking more about the institute, Kelly said that the dance class includes some basics of yoga.
This fitness regime attracts women who want an effective and healthy lifestyle and that too with fun element include into it.
Hula Hoop mainly appears hard for those who don’t know how to move it. But the experts say keeping the hula hoop spinning is not as hard as it looks.
“You can’t hoop with a kid’s hoop. When you were a kid you were half as tall. Hoop should reach to the hips, at least. I used to teach a gym class of overweight women. I made hoops that were almost up to their armpits and they could do it,” circus hooper Marawa Ibrahim said.
Hula hoop is becoming popular among health conscious class as it is easy to use and makes exercise fun loving. But all we need is to know proper technique of maintaining the balance.
