Apple on Thursday announced the iTunes version 11.3 update with a new version of iTunes Extras for the Mac and Apple TV with plans to roll it for iOS 8 this fall.
Apple quotes the release of the version of iTunes as, “The greatest films on iTunes just got better.”Enjoying iTunes Extras on your Mac was a desktop matter until now and Apple plans to widen the experience with the content obtainable on Apple TV, and lays base for the release in coming fall.
iTunes Extras movie purchase offers behind-the-scenes, extra footage, production stills, images, costume concept designs, the director’s commentary and lot more along with the movie which you usually get to experience only with DVD or Blu-ray movie purchases. The featurettes will be a bonus for those who regularly take advantage of the additional content.
For the consumers who have previously purchased HD movies from the iTunes Store, the new content will be available free of cost.
Mac owners can start watching the iTunes Extras for previously owned HD movies by downloading iTunes 11.3 from the Mac App Store. Apple TV fans will need to update to apple TV 6.2, a free software update to experience the iTunes Extras.
iTunes Extras will be a part of the iTunes 11.3 update that is 143-megabyte and will be available to the users from today on Apple.com or the Mac App Store.
The new version of iTunes Extras being cloud-based will not only enable studios to update and add new content to Extras packages with a better approach to promote upcoming theatrical, but also it will entice the users to opt for iTunes movies.
Fox Home Entertainment studio offered screenshots of some of the new iTunes Extras that come with The Grand Budapest Hotel, this isone among the studios working with Apple.
