If you want to lose weight fast, you physician is your new best friend. According to a new study, you should always go to your physician before starting your journey to lose those unwanted pounds. Why? Because the doctor will give you that motivational boost before you start. You are already wondering if this is another lose weight scam? Think again, this federal research that gives you the right info.
Wendy L. Bennett, who is a primary care doctor, and her team of experts reviewed information which was previously gathered by Johns Hopkins in his trial for Practice-based Opportunities for Weight Reduction. The research was conducted over two years and, as mentioned earlier, funded by federal government. Having mentioned credibility, let’s get right to it now.
First of all, a person can definitely lose a lot more weight if a doctor is supporting them. This is what Hopkins deducted from his trial. What happened exactly was that the patients who gave their physicians higher grades actually lose, on average, 6 pounds more than those who gave lower ratings.
Dr. Wendy Bennett stated that “this trial supports other evidence that providers are very important in their patients’ weight loss efforts”. And it is true. The closer your relationship to your doctor, the higher probability to heed their advice and actually apply it. Bennett mentioned that a good interaction can lead to empathy and trust, which ultimately lead to better results.
Dr. Bennett doesn’t stop here. She also emphasizes on what patients need to know about weight-loss programs in general: that they are over promoted, sometimes even over hyped, so patients tend to rush in and see what the deal is without having consulted their doctor at all. And that’s bad. Every diet has its own logical use, and if some get promoted just for the money, it’s not ok.
But if you are the lone worker type it’s still not the end of the world. The studies have shown that if a person tries to lose weight on their own, they will do so, but gradually slow. There could be two main factors that can influence this loss: either not doing it right, in which case you need a doctor, or not having sufficient motivation to do it, so you need a doctor.
So keep in mind that if you want to lose weight effectively, you can give your doctor a call. Of course, the doctor is not going to do the job for you, but they will definitely make things way easier for you. And you can also consider that you have another friend who shares your burden along the way!
