Many people are still waiting on their orders for the highly praised 15-inch Mac Book Pros. One of the greatest improvements in user interface experience Apple is particularly proud of is the Touch Bar. While most Apple fans are not dazed by this, others find it extremely helpful.
“It just doesn’t seem to add anything new to my daily work process”, says a customer. Some power users are even annoyed by the typing process.
One of the most used keys is the escape key, in the upper left corner. Some users might find that the Mac Book’s Touch Bar makes the escape key less convenient than when using a regular keyboard. One god reason might be the fact that it is only half a regular escape key’s width. Moreover, there is no haptic feedback. Hence, if a person presses a key on the touch bar nothing notices the user of a keypress. This may provide yet another reason for why some power users would frown upon the Touch Bar.
The big yawn about the Mac Book’s Touch Bar is that there benefits from rather not-so-extensive of a support department beyond Apple’s own applications. At least, for the time being.
On the other hand, there are some unique applications such as reviewing a video in full screen while scrubbing through a timeline in Final Cut. On the downside, there are not many occasions where a buyer can make full use of this particular feature.
Moving on to sound, editing also benefits from the ability to scrub right on the Touch Bar. At the same time, using a Mac Book Pro for scanning photos would be quite a hassle. The main reason is due to the low resolution, only 60 pixels high. Also, the same applies for PowerPoint slides or other intensive software that uses a lot of images or high image quality or elevated levels of details and contrast.
For example, Google Chrome has no support for the Mac Book’s “innovative” Touch Bar. This ultimately leads to all the web-based apps a lot of people use on a daily basis are completely cut from this new feature. On the other hand, Safari does offer the ability to switch tabs through the Touch bar. However, users can deal with this simple “issue” by clicking directly on the tabs displayed on the main screen.
It is not entirely out of the question that over time developers will add extra support for Mac Book’s Touch Bar. Once this happens, users may be able to see some compelling applications, as well that will spark up their interest and ultimately turn to a Mac Book Pro easier.
