A terrible family crime shuttered the peace of an entire neighborhood. An apparent fight between a mother and a son has led to murder. In a outburst of rage, the son stabbed his mother several times and was later shot by the police right in front of his house.
49 year old Paul Campbell lived together with his 72-year-old mother, Patricia Campbell at 69 Prospect Hill Drive, in Weymouth.
According to officials, around 1 a.m., police received a 911 call coming from their address. When the police officers arrived at their residence, they found Paul Campbell outside his house, agitated and holding several knives in his hands.
The two police officers simultaneously decided that the situation demanded the use of force and both of them shot at the man. Campbell was taken to South Shore Hospital, were he was declared dead.
His mother was found dead with multiple stab wounds on the steps of the house. She was declared dead at the scene. Later that morning, police discovered blood stains on the staircase inside their house.
This wasn’t the first time police was called at the residence. They had been there three times before and every time was because medical assistance had been demanded.
One of the neighbors living a few houses away,Peggy McLaughlin, said that she saw the police flashing blue lights trough the window and assumed they came again for medical aid. When she saw that the police car had been there for a while she released something must have happened. Her dog ran away and hid in the bedroom, probably because of the gun shots, which Peggy McLaughlin stated she didn’t hear.
She declared that Patricia Campbell looked like a nice discrete lady. She had seen her son several times around the neighborhood, and admitted he looked clean and neat with short blond hair.
Paul Campbell worked as an actor, and had small features in movies like “The Fighter,” “Ted” and “American Hustle.” He had a daughter with Lorrie Higgins, the current girlfriend of Marty Walsh, the Mayor of Boston. The two of them had a fling when Lorrie was in high school, Campbell being seven years older.
