If vaccinating your children is against your personal beliefs or religious ones, you might want to stay away from angry parents who say vaccination is a must.
A couple from Oakland, California, is filled with anger on the parents who are against vaccinating their kids, after their baby girl was put in danger by a child infected with measles.
After taking their daughter at the paediatrics for a cold, Jennifer and Dave Simon, started living in tension. They didn’t know that at the same time they had visited the doctor, a child with measles had been there as well. The two parents were told, that the little boy with measles, had contracted the disease as his parents refused to vaccinate him. Their 6 months old daughter, is still too young to be vaccinated and from there, they started living with fear.
The parents had declared that the fear that they went trough was unimaginable. They showed disapproval and anger towards the parents who refuse to immunise their children, as decisions like that could endanger the life of other children.
The doctor advised them to put their baby in quarantine for 28 days, as she could have gotten infected and the condition could become very serious.
Other children living in the county where the couple lives have been put under quarantine for the same reason, related a representative of Alameda County.
Jennifer Simon accused parents who refuse vaccines of relying on other people to keep their children safe, she called it the herd immunity. If the rest of the population was immune to diseases, it stops the disease to spread to those who were not vaccinated. She added, that those people are counting on the society whithout giving back.
Measles is a highly contagious virus and the germs can exist in the air or surfaces for several hours. Babies are the most threatened by it, as in their first year of life, they cannot get vaccinated, meaning they could be direct victims if exposed. Side effects of the disease could be deafness or in severe cases it can cause death.
Jennifer Simon’s baby hasn’t contracted the disease and will get out of quarantine Friday, but if she would run into one of those parents she would for sure give them a piece of her mind.
