Moovel, the German company that owns Car2Go, the ride sharing service has acquired 2 transportation companies for adding to its portfolio and strengthening the existing services, reveals the company. These include RideScout, an application through which North American users can search and compare costs and times across different ground transport options , Intelligent Apps, the company behind Mytaxi, a German Uber/Hailo, the operation of which is in Europe primarily.
Moovel looks forward to use both the brands for adding to the family of transportation applications, with RideScout operating as Car2Go’s subsidiary in North America. It continues to operate around 300 partners for various choice in ride decision making. This will be done through Smart car powered ride-sharing service that features prominently among the options. Mytaxi is 1 taxi-hailing application, that has launched in the year 2009 in Germany. Around 10s of millions of downloads have been attracted by the brand across the global footprint. However, with this acquisition, expansion of Moovel would be seen on an international level.
Mytaxi hasn’t yet made major inroads in the market of North America, in spite of its presence in Washington DC area. Most of the focus remains on Germany as of now. This consolidation of transport applications abroad somewhat resembles the acquisition spree that is going on in the food delivery startup space and will make some interesting action when the European Conglomerates will start facing more against U.S startups such as Uber. A nationwide ban is faced by Uber in Germany.
