Netflix (NFLX) said this morning in emails sent to members, and in an announcement on its Web site, it is raising its price for new members to the service in the U.S. by one dollar, to $8.99 per month for the basic online streaming service. The company had said at the time of its Q1 report last month that it would raise prices, without disclosing the amount.
Shares were last up nearly 2% in late Friday trade.
