Ohio wanted to protect women but they made abortion a bigger threat
Ohio tried to protect women and they restrict access to abortion. However, this did not decrease the rates of those who do not want to have a child. Moreover, they made abortions more expensive and difficult for patients. According to a new study, the restricted access to abortion made women have more health issues.
The study was published in PloS Medicine. Researchers used data from 2700 patients in Ohio to see if this law helped them or made abortion a bigger threat. It seems that patients had higher costs and side effects. In some cases, the treatment did not work and they had to do it again. The author of the study said that in many cases, patients needed a clinic procedure. That was the thing they were trying to avoid because it might be harmful to them.
Women who had medical abortions were more likely to need more interventions and sometimes the treatment was more invasive. It seems that, because of the costs, the rate of abortions declined in the past year. The authorities from Ohio wanted to help women and they managed to do the opposite. There were many countries, during history, where abortion was not legal. This did not keep women from getting it. Some of them are even trying more dangerous methods. Doctors are advising women to use protection if they do not want to get pregnant and think again before trying a dangerous method for abortion.
There are many ways in which an abortion can be done. The most popular one is by surgery. If the fetus has less than 15 weeks, doctors use suction-aspiration to induce abortion. This way the embryo will be removed. However, sometimes things can be more complicated and there were women who died because of an abortion. Another procedure, which is not common in the U.S. is the induce miscarriage. Doctors can induce an abortion if they think this would be the best way for the mother. You can also use pills or some alternative methods.
The most important thing is to go to a doctor if you want an abortion. If you try by yourself something, you might put your life in danger. The authorities should think again before making a law that doesn’t allow women to have an abortion. They will still try and it will be a bigger threat to their health.
