“Catholics should not breed like rabbits”, these were Pope Francis’s words when it comes to Catholics and contraception. It is a known fact that the Catholic church disapproves contraceptive methods, but this doesn’t mean that Catholics should go on having as uncountable children.
Pope Francis has demonstrated he is not afraid to express his opinions on subjects that really matter and that are obvious. He has been sharp tongued on many occasions and has given a lot to think about.
During his flight from the Philippines back to Rome, Pope Francis has held a press conference on the plane and talk about a subject surrounded by many controversies.
The catholic leader mentioned that the church is a sustainer of a responsible parenthood and a promoter of natural means of birth control but this doesn’t have to be misunderstood and it doesn’t mean that Catholics should “breed like rabbits”.
He went on with his speech with a story about a woman in Manilla he had met during his visit. The woman was carrying in the wound her 8th child after she had given birth trough cesarian to seven other children. In his opinion, that lifestyle can be called irresponsible parenting. In the Philippines the government issued the release of drug store contraceptives but it received a huge ban from the local church.
Another sensitive matter touched by Pope Francis was, the terrorist attack in Paris, at the Charlie Hebdo publication. He stated, that freedom and free expression should consider the reality we are living in, and freedom of expression might act like a double ended sword.
Pope Francis followed that a lot of things that work in theory are a disaster when put in practice. In theory the Bible says to turn the other cheek, in theory freedom of expression is “free”.
He wasn’t against freedom of expressions he just wanted dot explain that humans are sensitive beings. If one keeps insulting another and keeps provoking him/her should realize that person will at one point have a violent reaction. Is wrong to insult someone else religion, and he made a joke about himself saying that a person who would curse his mother should expect to be “punched”.
