Power Ranger star, Ricardo Medina has been arrested on suspicion of killing his roommate with a sword.
Authorities have revealed on Sunday that Medina, 36, who acted in the popular television series Power Rangers, was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the deadly stabbing of his roommate, Joshua Sutter, with a sword.
It was revealed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department that the unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday, at around 4 p.m. at Medina and Sutter’s house at the 38000 block of San Francisquito Canyon Road.
Apparently, the incident was sparked by a heated argument between Medina and Sutter, right after Medina and his girlfriend withdrew to their bedroom.
The Sheriff’s Department stated that Sutter, also 36, followed the couple and forcibly broke the door to their bedroom open. As a result of this, Ricardo Medina grabbed a sword that he had been keeping next to the door and stabbed Sutter once in the abdomen. The blow was enough to kill the man.
The Power Rangers star called 911 and remained inside the house. He was cooperate while being interviewed by detectives and eventually he was booked at the station in Palmdale on Sunday. Ricardo Medina’s bail was set at $1 million.
It was revealed by Amber Smith, Sheriff’s Deputy, that Medina is indeed the actor who played a red Power Ranger on the popular television series. Among other acting roles, Medina also voiced the character Deker on television series Power Rangers Samurai (2012-2013) and he was the Red Lion Wild Force Ranger of the Power Rangers Wild Force series (2002). He also appeared in an episode of CSI: Miami and E.R.
Gar Lester, Medina’s agent, told The Times that he has a hard time believing the allegations against the Power Ranger stars are true:
He’s been my friend and client for 12 years and he’s a great guy. He’s great to his dog, he’s great to his people. He’s really a super person.
Power Rangers has been running for 20 seasons and it has 17 different themed series and even two theatrical films. The franchise doesn’t seem to have been affected by criticism for its action violence that is targeted to child audiences.
