Age is no bar for a homosexual Iowa couple who have been in a relationship for over seven decade. Two Iowa women began a new chapter of their life in their 90s by tying the nuptial knot after 72 years of their relationship.
Vivian Boyack (91) and Alice “Nonie” Dubes (90) rang the wedding bells on Saturday and now they are a proud married couple.
Both the women met in their childhood and grew older together in their hometown of Yale, Iowa. Towards their adulthood, they moved to Davenport, where Boyack began with the teaching profession in a school and Dubes worked on a payroll.
Dubes says she enjoyed her life with Boyack and grew older together seeing the ups and downs of the life.
Over the years, they have traveled together to all 50 states and across all the provinces of Canada. They had also travelled England twice in their lifetime.
Happy over the sacred union, Boyack said, “It takes a lot of love and work to keep a relationship going for 72 years.”
The wedding ceremony was attended by a small group of family members and close friends.
Iowa made the same-sex marriages legal in 2009.
