Samsung launched the first UHD media player that streams 4K content. The company’s UBD-K8500 is the first UHD Blu-ray media player with a resolution of 4k and it was launched for selling a tad earlier than initially expected.
The product was presented at IFA in 2015 and it was planned to arrive in shops during this spring. However, some spread reviews have said that certain stores have already received these players in their stocks, while clients who preordered this product from various US sellers have been informed that it is now delivered in their locations.
One place that promoted the player these days appeared to have sold out all of its units in only a few hours, according to some Facebook posts submitted on their official page. Even if many film companies have declared that they will be shooting videos that can be displayed or released in this recent format, it is not obvious if they are currently offered at a national level.
Top Hollywood titles are still presented as preorders only in the major online stores, while most of the confirmed movies have unclear release schedules rumored for sometime during this year. Fortunately, though, the Samsung UBD-K8500 is able to also show 4K material from important video suppliers such as Netflix and works with regular DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs or 3D disks.
These are the regular formats that were said to represent the next major step just before people realized that HDR and UHD were truly the next major step in video playing. And even if 4K content may have a long shelf life compared to 3D, there is probably no hurry to go the nearest store and get a media player yet.
There is no doubt that the recent 4K technologies are the new hit on the market. Ultra HD allows people to experience a type of movie quality that they can see only in today’s cinemas right at their own house. Samsung got one level further and enhanced their market offers.
The player also features great HDR capabilities, which bring great color quality and variety to video clips. This is next to the numerous pixels that can be seen on a UHD display, so people can expect sharp and bright images from their devices.
In other terms, Samsung’s gadget is establishing new higher standards for other producers. The organization, along with its rival Philips, declared during the 2016 CES tech event that were planning to deliver their models by Apr. But the early restricted launch makes their gadget the standard to top for all ultra HD products.
