The Detroit Auto Show has presented two different models of supercars this week- supercars that stunned everybody in a split second. The names were soon on everybody’s lips: the Acura NSX and the Ford GT. The biggest pride was, most probably, that both models were created in the United States, which is not common for this category of cars. Their superiority to other models from their family is unquestionable.
Vehicle trading in the US has risen as 16.4 million cars were sold in 2014, a number that it has been growing over the last 5 years. Kelley’s Blue Book editor Karl Brauer believes that the auto industry is improving and becoming more exotic. Statement, generous and courageous cars are preferred in a larger number.
Ford successfully managed to bringing out a new model of GT in order to celebrate the 50 years anniversary of the release of the former model, GT40. Mark Fields is the CEO and leader of Ford and his pride and joy is that this GT40 is one of the “vehicles that make people’s heart pound”.
Even if it will be ready for sale only in a years or so, in comparison to NSX that promises it will be in the hands of new owners at the end of 2015, Ford GT stole all the attention. Granted, the 600 horse power that it possesses and the fact that the NSX has been already seen before at other presentations are also a factor.
The car’s starting price is $140 000, similar to the Honda, whose price starts at $150 000. Big numbers are usually used by wealthy and passionate car lovers, so the producers assume that it will be a small number of cars sold for both models.
NSX is the leader in all Honda Acura models, topping every list from 1900 to 2005 but Stephanie Brinley, HIS Automotive expert thinks that the surprise element should have been there and unfortunately it wasn’t, in comparison with Ford. However, both Ford and NSX have reached, within being created, a lot of improvement needs that have been met, so their existence means a whole new era for supercars all over the world. New technologies will teach through personal example the new directions that deserve to be followed.
Other models that were also spotted and loved by the public and the future car investors were the redesigned Chevrolet Volt, Mercedes-Maybach S600 sedan and Mercedes AMG GLE 63S.
