Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates are being rolled for some devices, Samsung is still stuck with rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to Galaxy S4 Zoom users. On the other hand there are devices which are getting updated to the Android KitKat 4.4.3 and even Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
Samsung started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade for Galaxy S4 users in February and it is still not complete. Earlier the Galaxy Note 3 users were receiving the Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates. This was followed by KitKat 4.4.2 updates for other Galaxy S4 variants in the weeks and months following the initial roll out of the updates.
There are a number important Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates which are missing. One such updates figured today in the form of Galaxy S4 Zoom Android 4.4.2 KitKat update which is rolling out post the updates for regular Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S4 Active, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
SamMobile has reported that Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Zoom KitKat update is being rolled out to users in Russia. Galaxy S4 Zoom users in Russia were the first to receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.
Samsung has taken a leisurely attitude when it rolls out OS updates for its devices. Samsung starts off slow before pushing the updates to regions and users all over the world. Looking at past experience, the rollout of updates can take a couple of weeks to months. There are no fixed patterns for the rollouts and it is extremely random and unpredictable requiring the users of Samsung devices to be on their toes all the time regularly checking for updates.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Andoid KitKat 4.4.2 update is much akin to the KitKat updates rolled out for other devices. The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update comes with some small changes. These include minor changes to the status bar, performance enhancements and more. It is unlike the Android L but nevertheless much needed. There are still a number of Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2KitKat updates which needs to be rolled out but the release dates are still awaited.,
In Australia Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates for Telstra, Vodafone and Optus are to be rolled out in July though the release dates have not been released. On the other hand MetroPCS and C Spire Wireless users in the US are still waiting for their Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. However it is not clear when the upgrades will happen.
Samsung is lagging behind other companies who are rolling out Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat roll outs. These include Nexus, Sony Xperia, Motorola smartphones and HTC One. HTC One M8 started receiving its Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates yesterday and the first update landing will happen on Sprint.
Both Android 4.4.3 and Android 4.4.4 KitKat are actually bug fixers. The Android 4.4.2 update had brought with it a number of issues especially for Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2 users.
