Hundreds and thousands of Americans will throng the streets of the New York City on Sunday to participate in a peaceful planet-saving march in support of an economy that favors creations of clean air and a world free of climate change.
The march will be organized under the name People’s Climate March and is scheduled to start at 11:30 am on Sunday and is likely to end by 4 pm.
The planet-saving event comes two days before the United Nations’ global climate summit where more than 120 world leaders will on Tuesday come on one global forum in New York to formulate set a new global climate treaty by the end of 2015 in order to cut emissions of greenhouse gases including Carbon Dioxide.
The major aim of the campaign is to create awareness among the people on climate change, rising levels of carbon emissions, global warming and factors behind the environmental imbalances. The event also calls for an effective and sustainable climate policy.
The event will witness the Earth-saving pomps in large numbers. It will also see the participation of several environment lovers and climatologists ranging from political personalities, celebs and dignitaries including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, actors Mark Ruffalo and Russell Brand and musician Jason Mraz. Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio will also aware people about factors causes rising seas.
During the UN climate summit, the environmentalists and climatologists and other pocket of the society are hopeful of recapturing the momentum that was lost after the 2009 Copenhagen climate summit turned full of disappointment when the world leaders left the meet without a binding treaty.
