This promotion would run from today till October end and users who are on at least 15GB shared plans, are eligible for it. The price for the 15GB plan is $130, while that of the 50GB plan is $375.
Each additional line would be adding up $15 to the plan if it is purchased through AT&T Next offering or $40 a month, if the subscribers are signing up for a 2 year contract on smartphone. For additional $10 per month, a tablet can be added by those who are opting for this program. Each plan includes unlimited text and talk, with a cap on data usage.
With this current promotion, the AT&T would be put behind, Verizon Communications Inc. closer to Sprint Corp. and T-Mobile US Inc. Already, unlimited data plans are offered by the latter two on their shared plans for around same prices. This move can also be an attempt for slowing down the momentum of subscribers fleeing to T-Mobile. It may also be a counter to Verizon, which the analysts show to have the strongest postpaid subscriber growth in the current quarter.
Either ways, this promotion is definitely a good news for the consumers who have been the main beneficiaries of price wars in the industry.
