HealthKit is a new tool for the developers in iOS 8 which is designed for letting the applications talk to the native health apps from Apple. Healthkit is meant for pulling in information from other devices and applications, such as heart rate or calories burnt, thus making it more useful. For example, it could allow a nutrition app, with the permission of the users, for telling other fitness apps how many calories are consumed by a person in a day.
Even data like blood pressured can be shared automatically with doctors. Apple calls it as a health revolution. In a statement, Apple stated that a bug had been discovered in the system, preventing the release of compatible applications that were scheduled for the launch of iOS 8.
A spokeswoman, on Wednesday said that they were working quickly for getting the bug fixed in the software update and having HealthKit apps available by month end.
Developers had plans of releasing new versions of applications for HealthKit on Wednesday. The launch of Carrot Fit, a fitness app didn’t go as per the plan. HealthKit is different from Apple’s new Health App in iOS 8, through which the users get a viewable dashboard of health and fitness data.
