A new study has found that running is the best way to stay healthy. According to the scientists, running helps a person to reduce premature death risk.
The risk of early death can be decreased if an individual runs for at least five minute a day.
For the study, the researchers included 13,000 runners and divided them into five groups. The researchers recorded the running time of every participant in a week. It was found that those who were in the lowest group ran up to 50 minutes. Participants with highest group ran for over 175 minutes in a week. Interestingly, the benefits of running remained same for all runners.
According to the researchers, people who ran were 30 percent less likely to die a premature death from all causes in comparison to those who don’t run. The mortality risk was also more among people who exercise less.
After concluding the research, the team found that in order to lower the risk of early death, one should engage in running 30 to 59 minutes per week. Those who are not engaged in exercise or physical activity have 45 percent chances of death from cardiovascular diseases, 25 percent higher chances of developing heart diseases and 10 percent higher chances of death from cancer and diabetes.
The researchers believe the study will motivate people to start running and engage in more physical work and remain fit and healthy.
