In a bid to revive dwindling sales of its tablets, Apple Inc’s suppliers have reportedly commenced the mass production of new iPad and iPad Mini.
As the manufacturing process of the next-generation tablets already begun, rumours are abuzz that Apple is likely to launch the new devices later this year, most likely ahead of the X-mas shopping season.
Apple has last launched its iPad in October 2013 so rumours are abuzz that the tech giant may bring its new tablets in October this year.
According to a Bloomberg report, the manufacturing of the next-gen iPads with a 9.7-inch (24.6-cm) screen has already commenced and if go by the sources it is expected to be available in the market at the end of current quarter or early next quarter.
Apple is also likely to bring a new tablet version, 7.9-inch iPad mini, by the year-end, Bloomberg said. Its mass production has already started, the report said.
Meanwhile, Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller refused to comment on the report.
Apple, which laid the foundation of tablet market in 2010 with its first iPad, has witnessed a slump in its tab sales from 2012.
Tech analysts blame the popularity of larger phones or smartphones to this significant decline in sales and fame of tablets.
13.2 million iPads were shipped, 8 percent decline than 2013, in the June quarter. iPads account to 15 percent of Apple’s revenue. The tablet sales failed to impress as they fell short of the expectations of Wall Street for the second quarter in a row.
Apple is also expected to launch new iPhones with bigger screens and fascinating specifications on September 9. A health-related watch-like device, dubbed as iWatch is also expected to be launched by the same time. However, Apple has remained silent on the launches.
