A teenager declared dead by doctors after drowning, miraculously came back to life after his mother praid out loud to God.
Fourteen year old, John Smith from St. Charles, has stayed underwater for about 15 minutes on the 19th of January, before the emergency team found him and pulled him out of the water. He wasn’t breathing and even after 43 minutes of CPR he didn’t regained his pulse.
The lead emergency doctor that day, Doctor Kent Sutterer, had no hopes of bringing him back and called the boys mother for her to say goodbye and told her they had done everything they could. When his mother, Joyce Smith walked into the room and saw her son, she started praying out loud and asked God to give her son back. A few seconds later, the boy started breathing again. Stutterer state that no one in the room could believe what happened, but even so, the condition of the boy was still serious. His pupils were reacting at the minimal levels and he was breathing hard.
Once John’s condition was stabilised he was moved to the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Centre from St.Louis. The pastor of Smith church, Jason Noble, said that after the arrival of John, five pastors gathered in his room to pray. He then, stated to have had a vision of two angels and lights above John’s head. He believed that God was bringing his brain back together and claimed that as soon as that happened John opened his eyes, lifted his shoulders and grabbed his hand.
The teenager told after he recovered, that the night of the accident him and another boy spent the night at a colleagues house, as the next day they were off school as it was Martin Luther King Day. He didn’t remember anything about the accident. After looking at some picture of him and his friends posing on the ice, before they fell in the water, some frames came back to his head. His friends didn’t suffer any serious injuries.
John was adopted by Joyce and Brian Smith, from Guatemala, when he was just a five months baby. His adoptive father, had traveled a lot to the Latin American countries to build children schools, and one time he asked his wife is she wanted to adopt a child. Both of them had been previously married and already had kids.
The teenager hasn’t suffered any lasting effects from his death encounter experience. He remained only with some scrapes on his arms, neck and legs from the sharp edges of the ice and his arms are still sore.
