In a tragic incident, two tandem skydivers including a student died after they fall onto a garage near Cape Cod following a suspected malfunctioning of their parachute.
Massachusetts police said that the skydivers had just taken off from across the street at the Cape Cod Airfield after which they met their tragic end.
The skydiving instructor and student died on Sunday night shortly after they crashed into a building during a tandem jump at 885 Race Lane in the Barnstable village of Marston Mills across the street from Cape Cod Airfield, said the police.
According to the authorities, both the victims were soon rushed to the Cape Cod Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Talking about the probable cause that led to the unfortunate incident, Barnstable police Sgt. David Myett said, the preliminary findings have suggested that the crash occurred due to the malfunctioning of the skydivers’ equipments but it’s very early to say anything with certainty till the probe ends.
“It appears they did hit the garage. The Mass. State Police will be investigating, along with our detective division,” said Barnstable Police Sgt. Ben Baxter.
He further said that the investigations into the case will be carried by the office of district attorney.
