Uber has found a way to help over three and a half million Americans who have missed their doctor’s appointment because they could not get to the doctor’s office. Many people don’t have a car and can’t pay for public transportation. That means that, apart from the emergency cases in which the ambulance drives the patient, they need to provide a way to reach the hospital or clinic.
This alternative transportation uses the software provided by Uber in order to design a mobile app that all the clinics and hospitals could use to call a vehicle for the patients that are unable to come to the appointment or go home after them. The app can be used by patients too, but they can only use it if they don’t have any alternative way of reaching their appointment.
This alternative transportation is under testing for the moment, but some health care providers have accepted to use it. Nemours Children’s Health System from Delaware, Mercy Health System of Pennsylvania, and Children’s are the first to test this service. It is believed that the transportation is going to expand this year in other 6 states.
More and more health care providers focus on the transportation problem because if a patient misses more than 2 appointments it can ruin the whole treatment and they are back to stage 0. The fact that people don’t go to the appointments can cause them harm and can even get them to the hospital.
The great benefits that this transport brings are safety and speed. It can go anywhere like the taxi, but the Uber transport is followed by the hospital on the application. The patients don’t even need a smartphone because the hospital can call the transportation for them. Circulation is the name of this alternative transportation.
Circulation could be a great way of transportation for patients and it could provide the help, the speed, and the safety that everybody needs. If more health care providers decide to test the applications the results will start to show.
What is your opinion about the Uber application Circulation? Will it be of use in the case of non-life threatening situations?
