The death toll in the October 24 high school shooting incident in Washington climbed to four, including the attacker, after a 14-year-old student succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
The gravely wounded teenager, Shaylee Chukulnaskit, breathed her last on Friday afternoon at the Providence Regional Medical Center in the state of Washington.
The ill-fated shooting incident on October 24 at a high school in Washington has so far claimed lives of four people, including three students and the alleged attacker.
Chuckulnaskit is the third student to have succumbed to her injuries. The other two students falling prey to the tragic incident were her classmate Zoe Galasso and Gia Soriano, both 14-year-old.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old student, who was also wounded in the tragic shooting incident, remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Harborview Medical Center.
Another teenager victim of the incident was in “satisfactory” condition following a surgery this Thursday. Doctors said that the 15-year-old is likely to under knife further.
Expressing their grief and sorrow in a communique, the Chuckulnaskit family said, “Our hearts are broken at the passing of our beautiful daughter. Shay means everything to us. In Shay’s short life she has been a radiant light bringing us incredible joy and happiness. She has been a loving daughter, a caring sister, a devoted friend and a wonderful part of our community. We can’t imagine life without her.”
The unfortunate incident took place at Marysville-Pilchuck High School when a 15-year-old student, Jaylen Fryberg, began shooting at several of his schoolmates during the breakfast time at the school cafeteria. After shooting at several children, he took his own life.
