Several BLM activists have rallied outside a Starbucks shop in Philadelphia after two black men were arrested without motive Thursday. BLM claims the men were the victim of racial profiling.
The protest started Sunday around noon, with activists carrying signs reading “#Enough/Shame On Your Starbucks” and “#BoycottStarbucks.” They started a campaign to boycott the coffee shop chain on Twitter on that same day.
On Saturday, Starbucks’ chief executive apologized for the incident to the two African Americans who were handcuffed and escorted by the police outside the store. The CEO told the two men that the company wants to offer them “a face-to-face apology” if they show up.
Police said they were called by the shop’s employees who alleged trespassing by the two men. BLM tweeted that the two men were waiting for a friend in the Starbucks but hadn’t ordered anything.
Police officers were told that the two men had tried to use the restroom, but the employees barred them because they hadn’t bought anything. Starbucks workers asked the duo to leave, but they refused. Police confirmed the two men refused to leave the store even after being asked thrice by the officers, which led to their arrest.
No Charges Were Filed Against the Black Men
Witnesses recorded the incident on their smartphones and posted the clips on social media.
@Starbucks The police were called because these men hadn’t ordered anything. They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing. All the other white ppl are wondering why it’s never happened to us when we do the same thing. pic.twitter.com/0U4Pzs55Ci

The men’s friend Andrew Yaffe confirmed they were waiting for him inside the store.
What did they get called for? Because there are two black guys sitting here meeting me?…What did they do?,
Yaffe, who is Caucasian, asked.
Police took the two males to the police station and fingerprinted them. After eight hours, the men were released. There were no charges brought against them as no evidence of crime has been found. The balck men’s lawyer accuses the store’s manager of racism. The manager is white.
