23-year-old Kyle Rowland started out as a blues musician from a young age. At the age of ten, he performed for the first time on stage at a local Sacramento restaurant. In recent times, he was “well-loved” by the community and a prominent blues musician.
However, on Friday evening, Sacramento law enforcement officers brought him in on attempted murder charges. Police officers were alerted to a shooting going down on 1100 block of G Street shortly before 2 a.m., at a local house party. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the incident. According to the Sacramento Police Department spokesman, Matthew McPhail, partygoers managed to contain the incident until law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.
Furthermore, multiple witnesses claim the suspect left for a little while and returned with two weapons. Only one was fired. At first, investigators were considering the possibility of an accidental firing of the weapon. However, upon further investigation, the hypothesis was rejected. In present, Kyle Rowland is held in Sacramento County Main Jail on five counts of attempted murder. The judge did not yet set a bond.
The news of the shooting came as a shock to the community since people were very fond of Kyle Rowland, having watched him grow up in the spotlight right before their eyes. Furthermore, the perpetrator was working as a sheriff’s deputy at the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office since October 2016. According to the Sheriff’s Department, he was still on probationary status.
Ryle Rowland made his debut in the blues industry at the age of 10 when he was attending the Sacramento Music Festival. Mick Martin, a local blues musician spotted young Rowland in the crowd sitting on a chair playing his harmonica and invited him on stage. Since that day, Mick Martin became Kyle Rowland’s mentor.
In 2009, he was already making headlines after he won the West Coast Hall of Fame award for Blues New Artist of the Year and Best Blues Harmonica. He was part of the Kyle Rowland Blues Band which oftentimes performed in local restaurants like Torch Club cocktail bar, and played at multiple music events such as Woodbridge Winery for the Reds, Whites, and Blues Festival, and Sacramento Music Festival.
