Recent news of Angelina Jolie filling for divorce has been stirring up quite the controversy. The power couple managed to raise over $117.5 million together since their 2014 marriage, and $555 million since they first came out as a couple in 2004. Now that the Brangelina divorce is officially a thing, what will happen to all of the liquidities?
According to Forbes, Brad Pitt contributed to the joint account with approximately $76.5 million since their 2014 wedding. The real-life Achilles was also cast in more movies than his current spouse and his career stretches over a wider time frame.
On the other hand, Angelina Jolie managed to raise over $2.1 billion throughout her career as an actress and an additional $359 million from the movies she wrote and produced.
An estimated cost of the divorce formalities, including experts, accountants and lawyers reaches an astonishing $1 million each.
Apart from the joint account, the two also share equally expensive pieces of real estate, including an apartment in the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Towers, a mansion in New Orleans with an estimated value of $6.5 million, and a home in Los Feliz.
Some legal experts believe that the couple has an agreement in place, and while it may not necessarily be a prenuptial agreement, they may find a way to split their assets without too much fuss.
The high road, in this case, is an out of court settlement. However, the couple shares more than money and real estate. Jolie and Pitt are part of a numerous family.
The custody of the six children than the two currently share may turn out to be a fiercer battle than that over finances and homes.
Angelina first adopted Maddox Chivan in 2001 when he was a couple of months old. The Cambodian boy was later legally adopted by Pitt, as well. Their second child, Zahara Marley, a girl with Ethiopian origins, was also adopted by Angelina first (2015) and later by Pitt (2016).
Their third child, Shiloh Nouvel, is the first baby to share their genes. She was born in 2016 and she, as all her other brothers and sisters, bears the name Jolie-Pitt.
Their fourth infant, Pax Thien, was adopted from Vietnam. Since the adoption laws in the country are very strict, Jolie was forced to adopt him as a single parent, Pitt joining her in the title of official and legal parent a year later.
Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Léon are the last biological children of Jolie and Pitt, the twins being born in 2008.
The voluptuous actress filed for divorce arguing that her husband cheated on her. More details are yet to be revealed, but the Brangelina divorce is expected to be the sensation of the year.
