Do you know what your first Google search was? Can you think of the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever typed in the search box? Well, now you won’t have to. It’s now possible for every Google user to get their search history, their 100 % complete search history.
It’s no secret that Google knows more about you then most of your friends. The fact that they use your Google search history to personalize your results and the adds you see has been widely debated. But now it can all come back to you!
Everything you’ve ever searched for, every picture and link you’ve ever seen are now available to you and they’re just a few clicks away! If that sounds like something you want to revisit, then all you have to do is log on to your Google account and then click on the small cog at the top right hand corner of your screen and then click “Download”.
But you should be careful where you’re downloading you history to. Google makes it clear that you in a message that should avoid public computers and unsafe internet connections, just as a reminder that once the data is in your hands, you’re responsible for protecting it. And yes, there are other people out there who will use you data if you’re not careful!
Furthermore, it is now possible to delete your Google history, all of it or just the embarrassing parts, provided that you can pinpoint the timeline on those. Much like the Web History on your computer, now you can dispose of the Google searches you’ve made today, yesterday, last week, month, year or “from the beginning of time”…Google time, that is.
For the record, some search history myths should be taken down, so that you may grasp the whole extent of the situation. First off, deleting your web history does not delete the history that Google has on you. And secondly, if you’re careful when it comes to your privacy settings on your Google account, you can prevent the corporation from saving your data, at least until the next major update.
So, after taking everything into consideration, it is now your decision if you want to download your Google search history and face the facts! This however should be done with caution, since everybody has guilty pleasures, like endless pictures of cats and otters and harmless curiosities regarding the latest Hollywood buzz. So don’t judge yourself too harshly!
