The night sky offered another celestial event for the Texas residents on Saturday as a fireball, which is believed to be a meteor, lit the dark clouds and triggered a loud sonic boom shaking the homes in the central part of the state.
The fireball blaze streak across the Texas night sky at around 8 pm local time. The moment was also captured via dashcam video in San Antonio around 8:45p. Some reports emerged illustrating that the same bright light was also seen as far north as Dallas and as far south as Corpus Christi.
According to the American Meteor Society, it has received over 200 reports about the bright fireball streak over Texas night sky.
There were huge speculations that the fireball streak was actually a meteor landing but the National Weather Service in San Antonio refuted such reports, saying confirmation of meteorite debris at this juncture is not right.
NWS also confirmed that the celestial occurrence was spotted at about 8:45 pm in different areas in Texas spanning from Lubbock to Corpus Christi.
The Texas residents who witnessed the incredible moment with their naked eye took to social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to report about the fireball and share their experience. Some also uploaded the video of rare site on YouTube.
