Coffee bean helping to loose weight is a complete scam. The advertising and marketing of coffee beans extracts related to weight loss has been banned by the Federal Trade Commission and were declared deceitful.
The Federal Trade Commission, charged Lindsay Duncan, who is the owner of the companies, Pure Health and Genesis Today Inc, which were untruthfully promoting green coffee beans extract as a miraculous remedy for loosing weight. They were claiming, green coffee would aid people loosing up to 17 pounds in only 12 weeks, without any physical effort or special diet.
The companies owned by Lindsey Duncan, made millions of dollars trough false advertising, which was claiming that the use of green coffee bean supplements leads to serious and fast weight loss, stated the director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection of the FTC, Jessica Rich.
The FTC agreed that Lindsey Duncan and his companies have to pay damages of $9 million to the people who bought the coffee supplements and stop making weight loss claims unless they can prove that with two studies. A representative of Genesis Today, stated that Duncan has left the company in 2014 and the misleading add had been stopped before reaching the settlement. The spokesperson, who refused to give her name, said, they have decided to settle with the FTC but they are not taking on any blame or admitting wrong doing.
In the complaint released by the FTC, it was stated that “The Dr.Oz Show”, hosted by the famous surgeon, doctor Mehmet Oz, contacted Duncan in 2012, who presented himself as a celebrity nutritionist, and was asked to talk about the benefits of green coffee for loosing weight.
The FTC, complaint added, that Duncan accepted to participate in the show, even though he had never in his life studied the subject, and he arranged for his company to promote the coffee supplement. It seems that he did not reveal to the producer of the “The Dr. Oz Show, his relation with Pure Health.
The site of “The Dr. Oz Show”, related that the authors of the green coffee study, have withdrawn their study. But everywhere else the marketing is claiming that a new exciting research, is proof that you can melt body fat, all over your body, with the help of green coffee extract. The quantity recommended was 800 mg twice a day.
“The Dr. Oz Show” wrote an email, complimenting the FTC on the long and accurate investigation of Lindsey Duncan, and his intention of deceiving the audience trough their television show.
