A new Kickstarter project that raised $1,52 million is called the Kano computer kit and it was designed especially for kids who want to learn how to build their own computers and how to code. The Kano computer kit is actually for any age but the product targets young kids, ages 6-15. The Kano computer kit comes with everything it needs to build a computer, except for the computer monitor. The kit includes a Raspberry Pi Model B computer board, which is used to create all kinds of computer related products like Bitcoin miners and coffee makers.
The Kano computer kit comes with a wireless keyboard, a speaker, a Wi-Fi adapter and a power cable. The kids who purchase the Kano computer kit will also get an SD card of 8GB which has the Kano operating system already installed. The kit also includes a transparent case for the computer and a yellow HDMI cable for connecting the computer to its monitor. The kids will be able to read the instructions on how to assemble the computer from the illustrated booklets that are included in the package.
Those who have tried assembling the computer with the Kano kit said that it took them 15 minutes to put the parts together. The Raspberry Pi board was first assembled into the plastic case, then the Wi-Fi adapter and the wireless connector for the speaker and keyboard were added easily. The last thing they did was inserting the SD card with the Kano software then plug the computer and connect it to the monitor.
The best part of the Kano computer kit is the actual operating system which shows kids and adults how to do basic programming. Once they’ve assembled the computer, they can do stuff as with a normal computer: watch Youtube videos, browse the internet and send emails. The Kano computer kit runs on Linux and is available for $149.99 on their official website. The kit is available in the US, Canada, Europe and the UK. On their website is says that the kit will be available in Brazil, Japan and Israel in the near future.
