Lyft has made a signature for its service by making the cars wear a pink mustache.
Lyft, Uber’s competitor, launches its Premier services which will include luxury sedans and SUVs.
Riders will be serviced by high-rate drivers who will have access to high-end vehicles. The riders will receive additional money for their Premium rides. On the other hand, Lyft will also have higher margins on the new service.
The premium drivers are encouraged to offer water bottles, gum, and phone chargers. The main idea is to improve the customer experience. However, Lyft will not provide any additional services other than leather seats and extra leg room, which come with the premium vehicle.
In the last months, Lyft partnered with big companies like Apple to transport their employees. The driving company offers a seamless experience for its enterprise users, and it seems to be keeping up with the trend in corporate travel.
Uber, the main competitor of Lyft, had already been offering luxury car services. However, UberSELECT and UberBLACK have longer waiting times that the traditional Uber cars. It seems that the higher prices result in fewer drivers, and riders could often have a hard time finding a particular type of car in a remote area of the city.
Lyft’s response is a riding schedule, where users can organize the trip with 24h in advance in order to make sure they will be offered the requested car in the right place and at the right time.
The odd thing is that Uber started as a luxury car service. Now, it can barely keep its clients for the premium cars.
The two competitors tried to get one ahead of another for years.
In the last months, Uber followed a strategy involving reward programs together with companies like Capital One, offered upfront fares, and an ad-free Pandora. Another interesting segment is the food delivery, and UberEATS covers the clients’ need in this domain.
Lyft, on the other hand, empowers its customers to schedule their rides, to make reservations for a third party. It was also the first to integrate tipping in the total cost, and it remarkably succeeded to offer payments for drivers during the very same day when the driving took place.
The Lyft Premium services will have cost which will be almost double than the traditional rides. The new service will be made available in New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
