Last week, a law enforcement officer from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries could not get his meal that he had already paid for at a McDonald drive-thru because an employee refused to serve cops.
“I ain’t serving no cops,” Officer Scott Naff heard from the young employee who abruptly closed the window on him and walked away. A cook came from the back of the restaurant and handed the police officer his lunch.
The officer’s wife recalled the encounter in a lengthy Facebook post. She believes that her husband must have felt ‘humiliated’ by the employee’s attitude. The fast-food chain announced that the young man no longer works there.
The woman recalls that her husband was initially shocked but waited patiently for the manager to solve the issue. Meanwhile, people were staring at him until what looked like a cook handed him the food.
Manager Apologizes for the Inconvenience
The restaurant’s manager apologized for the incident as it went against the company’s “standards” of offering customers a “welcoming experience”. The restaurant has also taken “appropriate action” against the employee.
The officer’s wife underlined that she and her husband never asked for the employee’s dismissal since the last thing in the world they’d want to see is someone being fired. The woman thinks that McDonald’s should instead have focused more on training its employees on the proper service practices.
The officer’s wife called for another type of “appropriate action” from the fast-food chain, like more training programs and better hiring practices rather than sacking people for acting rude.
The officer said that he and his wife would still dine at McDonald’s since there are so “many great franchise owners” who understand the importance of having their employees properly trained when they work in customer service.
