Microsoft grows its Android presence via Cyanogen’s new MOD. Cyanogen has presented a new program named MOD, giving app designers further accessibility to the Android OS and letting them to use APIs that are impossible to reach in other conditions.
Microsoft, for instance, has designed a Skype service that allows customers to include VoIP calls straight to their Android dialing software. Besides, it has a Cortana system that is a viable alternative for Google Now at OS level.
People who believe that it is just a sly method for Microsoft to get into the complexity of the Android ecosystem, with its proprietary platform and by utilizing Cyanogen as the main vehicle, are probably right.
However, it is exciting to notice that Cyanogen, instead of just introducing these functions directly as elements of its operating system, which is exactly what the firm has done during past launches has presented a program and utilized Microsoft’s variations basically as examples for what is possible on this MOD.
Cyanogen and Microsoft are growing their current collaboration by presenting new MODs, which all cell phone producers and mobile companies can develop into their platforms. Presented at MWC this week, Cyanogen’s recent MOD system comes with a variety of Microsoft-based MODs, such as Cortana, Skype, Hyperlapse, Skype, and OneNote.
The recent MOD software will be released during next weeks on gadgets running on Cyanogen 13 or newer. Microsoft, along with the Android OS developer Cyanogen, said last year that the couple was trying to incorporate MS applications and solutions with Cyanogen.
In 2015, that affirmed that Cyanogen would incorporate and increase various Microsoft consumer productivity, texting and cloud applications and solutions with its proprietary Open OS system. Through Cyanogen’s MOD services, designers like Microsoft are able use the main system development inside the operating system in their advantage.
Customers can set up various MODs, like its Skype service, straight into the dialing software to include VoIP calling features. Among the recent mods that would be offered to OEMs or mobile-network providers through Cyanogen MOD system, as accessories for Skype’s platform, there is the Microsoft company Hyperlapse for first-person video clips.
Furthermore, there is the OneNote mod created for dialing, web browsing, e-mailing and schedule note taking. The TrueCaller service is set for junk ID or blocking; public lock screen, while the Cortana mod will deal with functions such as voice-activated photos’ according to the company’s statement.
