Facebook launches Work Chat as part of their Facebook at work initiative.
Facebook went ninja on this users and decided to quietly launch a new application, designed to facilitate communication at more. That means, more chit-chat at work with Work Chat. The new platform makes sure that reaching your colleagues will be much easier and much more reliable.
For those of you who are working for some time now, I’m sure that you know how hard it is to reach out to your co-workers using an intranet communication app. Much of those apps are bulky, they occupy an unusual amount of space and they do tend to waste the PC’s internal resources. Moreover, those antiquated programs are far from being reliable.
Take, for example, your daily intranet application. Usually, they are used to talk to someone from the office and nothing more. You won’t be able to share any files, initiate video calls or even participate in group discussions.
As of now, you won’t have to put up with the software’s limitation. No more IT guy called in the middle of the session because the application decided to go haywire and, why not, no more manual FTPs for document sharing.
More chit-chat at work with Work Chat means you will be able to enjoy all of Facebook’s perks from the comfort of your office without anyone raising an eyebrow at the fact that you’re using Facebook while working.
The new application is specifically designed for the Facebook at work campaigned, started by the big man itself. Work chat will make sure that you will not miss another group meeting because of a faulty connection or technical bugs. Moreover, you can use work chat in order to initiate voice call, video calls, share work-related files and photos, upload slide presentations and you can even use it to check up on your co-workers.
But, that’s only a head-start. Facebook also announced that they already made the application available to Android users and they are hard at work designing an iOS compatible version of the application. That means that you will be able to stay in touch with your workies even from the comfort of your own house. And, when you go on a vacation, you can simply turn off the featured application or put up a big “do not disturb sign”.
Unfortunately, the whole more chit-chat at work with Work chat, will not be available for everyone. Although Facebook is working on releasing a free version of the application, the feature is only available for those who have a Facebook at work account.
Facebook’s goal with this new campaign is to further expand into the corporate marketing.
