Since many people refuse to attend Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, the President-elect is making efforts trying to convince 27 year olds who spend their time on Facebook and Instagram to show up for one of his most important experiences of his lifetime. Hence, Donald Trump started buying ads on social media platforms in order to “personally” invite as many as he can to the ceremony.
According to Facebook, the ad is addressed to anyone 27 years of age or above who live in New York. Some social media users have allegedly spotted the ad on Instagram, as well.
During an interview with The New York Times, Donald Trump took the chance to brag about how many people are going to attend the swearing-in ceremony. At one point, he even says the amount of people present at his inauguration will most likely set a new record. Among the guests, Trump claims a lot of celebrities will make an appearance. However, maybe the most notable claim of the President-elect is that all ballgowns have been sold out in Washington D.C.
Meanwhile, boutique owners in D.C. say otherwise. A boutique owner says the demand for ball gowns has never been lower in his 38 years of business. At the same time, scalpers also face difficulties of their own. One, in particular, bought a pair of tickets for Trump’s inauguration for $700 and hoped to sell them for double the price. However, he cannot get anyone to buy them and is thinking he might as well just attend the ceremony since he is stuck with them anyway.
Not only common people seem to avoid Trump’s inauguration, but celebrities seem to run away from it, as well. Andrea Bocelli, Elton John, and Charlotte Church declined to perform at the swearing-in ceremony, and Katy Perry, John Legend, Scarlett Johansson, and America Ferrera announced they are going to D.C. for the sole reason of protesting against the President-elect’s second day in office.
News is not all bad. 3 Doors Down, Toby Keith, Jackie Evancho, and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir agreed to perform at the inauguration. However, even though The Rockettes will also be attending the swearing-in ceremony, several dancers refused to perform for Donald Trump.
